We honor and remember our dear friend and colleague, Ron Migdal, who we recently lost as a cherished Board member of the West Los Angleles Sawtelle Neighborhood Council. It is with heavy hearts that we reflect on the incredible legacy Ron leaves behind — a legacy marked by dedication, service, and a profound love for his community.
Ron served on the Board of Directors with the West Los Angeles Sawtelle Neighborhood Council for eight remarkable years, from June 2016 until his untimely passing. His commitment to local governance and community initiatives was unparalleled. Ron's passion for improving our neighborhood and his tireless efforts to bring about positive change were evident in everything he did. He was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration for all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Beyond his role in our local council, Ron's life was a testament to service and altruism. For an astonishing 37 years, he served as an OEC Instructor with the National Ski Patrol, training countless individuals in outdoor emergency care. His expertise and dedication undoubtedly saved many lives and ensured the safety of those enjoying the great outdoors.
Ron also held the esteemed position of Senior Patrolman at Big Bear Mountain Resort for 36 years, where he was a cornerstone of the ski patrol community. His leadership and commitment to safety at Big Bear Lake, CA, were truly exemplary.
Ron’s journey began with an education that laid the foundation for his many accomplishments. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Visual Arts from UC San Diego, graduating Cum Laude in 1974. During his time at UC San Diego, Ron was an active and engaged student, serving as Vice President of both the Ski Club and the Film Society. His academic achievements and extracurricular involvement spoke volumes about his character and drive.
To know Ron was to know a man of integrity, compassion, and relentless dedication. His contributions to our community and beyond will not be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire us all to strive for the betterment of our neighborhood and to serve others with the same unwavering commitment that he did.
Ron Migdal was not just a Board member; he was a friend, a mentor, and a true pillar of our community. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate his life and the remarkable impact he had on all of us. May we carry forward his spirit of service and his vision for a better, more connected community.
Rest in peace, Ron. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew you.
