About Committees

Committees are where ideas to improve our community are first developed before being presented to the Board of Directors. Most issues that come before the Board originate at the committee level. Typically, each committee is made up of seven members: four Board members and three stakeholders.

Our Committees

  • Budget & Finance

The Budget and Finance Committee manages the financial responsibilities of the West LA Sawtelle Neighborhood Council.

The committee reviews funding requests from the community, tracks expenses, and prepares the annual budget for approval by the Board.

  • Bylaws

The Bylaws Committee is responsible for reviewing and recommending updates to the WLASNC Bylaws and Standing Rules.

Its purpose is to ensure that the council’s governing documents remain clear, consistent, and in line with the policies of the Los Angeles City Charter and Department of Neighborhood Empowerment

  • Communications & Outreach

The Communications and Outreach Committee works to keep stakeholders informed and engaged with the work of the West LA Sawtelle Neighborhood Council.

The committee manages community outreach efforts, including newsletters, social media, the website, and public events.

  • Homelessness & Public Safety

The Homelessness & Public Safety Committee addresses issues that affect the well-being and safety of our community.

The committee works with city departments, local organizations, and stakeholders to find constructive approaches to neighborhood safety and quality of life.

  • Mobility & Environmental [MEC]

The Mobility & Environmental Committee focuses on issues that affect how we move through our neighborhood and how we care for our shared environment.

The committee reviews projects, policies, and initiatives related to transportation, traffic, green space, and environmental impact.

  • Planning and Land Use Management [PLUM]

The Planning and Land Use Management Committee reviews development projects and land use proposals that affect the West LA Sawtelle community.

The committee provides a forum for stakeholders to learn about upcoming projects, share input, and engage in discussions about zoning, housing, and community planning.

  • Ad Hoc Committees

Ad Hoc Committees are formed as necessary to take on current concerns and are not permanent committees.

If you’d like to become an official committee member, submit a committee application to the committee chair. Membership is open to all stakeholders who live, work, or have a significant interest in the West LA Sawtelle area.
