SLOW: STREET SAFETY CAMPAIGN

The Neighborhood council team is aware of how fast cars move in our neighborhood. In conjunction with commissioning the Sawtelle Mobility Survey, to get a better sense of community sentiment and needs for street safety and public transportation, and working with LA Department of Transportation to install Stop signs at high-priority intersections, we thought messaging could be another method to modify this behavior: we should remind drivers this is a community of families with children.

We collaborated with students from the Cosmos Japanese Gakuin, a Japanese-only Japanese Language School here in Sawtelle, and asked the students to come up with their idea of an effective traffic poster.

We are in the process making these in large scale formats and we hope to install them at prominent areas in our community. If you have suggestions on which corner these should be installed, please reach out to us.

We are also thinking of making these as yard signs for community members who would like to have these in their yard. Again, please reach out to us if you want these as yard signs.
